About The Book Design
Frankenstein is a novel that has the element of Gothic and Romantic movement. At surface, it looks like a science fiction or horror story, the book, as a matter of fact ingeniously revealed the “aesthetic and moral” discussion of human nature. The contradiction between the appearance/ behavior and the knowledge of sense of the monster presents the beauty of the paradox, which provides reader a highly emotional experience.
The cover and design in this book were based on the elements Gothicism and Romanticism with the very antique atmosphere. The beauty of nature conveys the darkness, coldness, and loneness perfectly. Images of water stream have been applied to the beginning four letters, while the shape of tree branches images are used on the chapters. By mentally experiencing the exciting but gloomy journey, find the beauty of conflict and the complexity of human nature.
The text was set in Didot(Regular and Italic), Baskerville(Semi bold and regular), and Gill sans(light).
